PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new osteoregulin polypeptide playing a role in regulating bone homeostasis, adiposity (obesity) and calcification of plaque atherosclerotic. SOLUTION: The osteoregulin polypeptide, a nucleic acid sequence encoding the polypeptide, a vector, an antibody, a host cell expressing the osteoregulin, and a new mammal with a targeted disruption of the osteoregulin gene are provided. The osteoregulin plays the role in regulating bone homeostasis, adiposity and the calcification of plaque atherosclerotic. As a result, the screening assay to identify a modulator of osteoregulin activity, as well as the method of treating mammal diseases or disorders associated with the osteoregulin activities are also provided. |
