PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for casting a cast slab and a cast ingot having fine solidified structure by using electromagnetic force, and its casting apparatus. SOLUTION: Static magnetic field having a prescribed intensity (desirably >=0.1 T) is impressed to molten metal and also, AC current having >=1 Hz frequency, is supplied so that the current component in the perpendicular direction to the static magnetic field direction exists in the range exceeding a prescribed distance (δ) from the solid-liquid interface to the solidifying direction.
