PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein that is useful for screening a substance that promotes a BINP-like activity, and a method for screening a substance that permits inhibiting cerebrovascular disorders such as cerebral ischemia associated with cerebral thorombosis or intracerebral breeding, the death of the brain neuron associated with hypoxiaischemia, and the death of the brain neuron caused by neuropsychiatric disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and schizophrenia, and is effective for preventing and treating these diseases. SOLUTION: Proteins encoded by a cDNA library derived from the hippocampus are screened for an ability of binding to an anti-BINP-binding protein monoclonal antibody. This screening gave a protein that functions as a binder protein for BINP, a DNA encoding the protein, a recombinant vector containing the DNA, a transformant, and a method for screening an agonist of BINP is provided. |
