The invention relates to a method and a device for separating by sedimentation particles from a particle flow contained in a carrier liquid. In order to improve separation efficiency and results, sedimented particles are diverted from the flow at given time intervals during the sedimentation operation in the direction of flow and upstream from flow obstacles without interrupting said operation.
