PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make both clamping parts of a chuck exactly exert required clamping pressure in a bar clamping device provided with the chuck having the clamping parts at both ends of an axis direction. SOLUTION: This bar clamping device 10 is provided with a chuck 14 incorporated into a rotary main spindle 12 and an operating mechanism 16 for operating clamping parts 24, 26 at both ends of the axis direction of the chuck 14 and fixedly clamping a bar. The operating mechanism 16 is provided with a first pressing member 46 which moves for the chuck 14 and elastically deforms the first clamping part 24, a second pressing member 48 which is relatively movably supported by the first pressing member 46 via a disc spring 58, moves for the chuck 14 in accompany with the moving of the first pressing member 46 and elastically deforms the second clamping part 26 and a driving device 50 for moving the first pressing member 46 for the chuck 14. The pressing member 46 is provided with a first operating surface 52 for pressing the clamping part 24. The pressing member 48 is provided with a second operating surface 56 for pressing the clamping part 26.
