The press action, for the continuous production of fiberboards and chipboards, uses an intermediate layer of a thin barrier film or belt between the press surfaces and the surfaces of the board material being compressed and hardened. The intermediate layer is a barrier belt (12) of coated woven glass fibers, with a thickness of 0.1-2.0 mm and preferably 0.25 mm, with a tensile strength of 7.5 N/mm<2> over the belt width. An Independent claim is included for a continuous press with two continuous barrier belts (12) which pass between the fiber/chip mat (4) to be compressed and the steel press belt (5,6) surfaces. At the press outlet, they are separated from the compressed board (13) by separation rollers (26) and/or wedges (27). Preferred Features: In a stage press, during the press cycles, the barrier belt (12) is passed round the press ram (3) to cover the upper press plates (14,15) and the material conveyor belt. It is separated at the press outlet by separation rollers (26) and/or wedges (27). The upper barrier belt (12) round the press ram (3) has its own drive system. Each barrier belt (12) passes through a cleaning station (18) and round a belt tension control (19). The stage press can be operated without a conveyor belt feed, where the fiber mat (4) is laid on the lower barrier belt (12) to be carried through the press zone. |
