PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for plastic waste liquefaction for the high-yield recovery of heavy oil high in quality and low in pour point. SOLUTION: In this plastic waste liquefaction method wherein molten plastic waste undergoes thermolysis in a thermolysis tank 1 and oil is collected from the product of thermolysis, part of the heavy oil out of the collected oil is returned to the thermolysis tank 1. An atmospheric pressure distillation tower 9 is connected to the thermolysis tank 1 via an ejector 8, a light oil tank 2 is connected to the thermolysis tank 1 via a pipe that guides steam out of the atmospheric pressure distillation tower 9, and a pipe 6 provided with a pump that forces light oil forward out of the light oil tank 2 and with a heating means 5 is connected to the thermolysis tank 1. A pipe 22 that guides oil out the bottom of the atmospheric pressure distillation tower 9 is connected to the ejector 8 via a pump 17 and then to a heavy oil tank 3 via a heating furnace 5, a flasher 19 and a condenser 21, and the flasher 19 is connected to the thermolysis tank 1 via a return pipe 27 provided with a pump 28.
