PROCESS FOR CATALYTIC CONVERSION OF CARBON MONOXIDE BY MEANS OF WATER IN HYDROGEN-CONTAINING GAS MIXTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the conversion of carbon monoxide in a hydrogen-containing gas mixture which has a high specific conversion ratio of carbon monoxide with a good selectivity under the moving use condition of automobiles that an output requirement changes rapidly, has a high temperature-stability, and has no sensitivity to the oxygen in the educt gas mixture. SOLUTION: The subject process comprises a catalytic conversion of carbon monoxide is catalytically converted into carbon dioxide and water by means of the water in a hydrogen-containing gas mixture by passing through the gas mixture over a shift catalyst at an operating temperature for the purpose of the conversion of carbon monoxide. In this case, the shift catalyst is at least one noble metal applied on an inactive support element in the shape of a covered material.
