METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ENDLESS METAL BELT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endless metal belt manufacturing method in which the solid solution treatment of a welded drum and the solid solution treatment of a rolled ring can be performed under the same condition and the process control is facilitated. SOLUTION: A cylindrical drum 2 is formed by welding the ends of a maraging steel thin plate 1. The first solid solution treatment of the welded drum 2 is performed. The solid solution treated drum 2 is cut to the predetermined width to form rings 4, and the rings 4 are rolled. The second solid solution treatment of the rolled rings 4 is performed. The circumferential length of the solid solution treated rings 4 are corrected to a predetermined value, and then the resultant rings are aged and nitrided. The plurality of aged and nitrided rings 4 are laminated on each other to form the endless metal belt. The first solution heat treatment of the welded drum 2 and the second solution heat treatment of the rolled rings 4 are performed in a nitrogen atmosphere containing 1-3% hydrogen in an atmospheric dew point between -40 deg.C to -70 deg.C and at a temperature range of not lower than the recrystallization temperature of the maraging steel and <=850 deg.C.
