摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deformation of sliding rings 31, 31 and a sliding projection 323 caused by the pressure of a machine inside space A, and the uneven wear thereby in the outer circumference on a seal sliding surface S. SOLUTION: A mechanical seal 3 has a rotation side sliding ring 32 supported on a large diameter side outer circumferential surface 23 in a annular step difference part 21 of a shaft 2 through a rotation side O-ring 37, and press-fit to the annular step difference part 21; and a non-rotation stationary side sliding ring 31 fixed movably in the shaft direction to a seal housing 1 through a stationary side O-ring 33, closely contacted with a sliding projection 323 of a rotation side sliding ring 32 by a spring 36 to form a seal sliding surface S. The rotation side sliding ring 32 is made of a self-lubricating sliding material, and the stationary side sliding ring 31 is made of a sliding material having a larger Young's modulus than the self-lubricating sliding material. The deformation force in the yielding direction applied by differential pressure between gas pressure of high pressure and the atmospheric pressure on the outside to the rotation side sliding ring 32 is canceled by the deformation force by the shaft direction component of the differential pressure acting in the direction being pressed against annular step difference part 21 of the shaft 2.
