PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for treating a fiber product, capable of readily imparting excellent dimensional stability to the fiber product. SOLUTION: This agent for treating the fiber product comprises (a) a polymer having 40-100 mol% monomer unit with a carboxy group based on the whole monomer unit, and further having a hydroxy group, (b) a slightly water-soluble material having <=0.1 g/100 g solubility in water at 20 deg.C, and water in specific proportions, and has pH 3.0-7.5 at 20 deg.C.
