The heat regulator consists of a heat pump and principal circuit to transfer heat from a cold source towards a hot source. An external heat exchanger (30), operating between the cooling fluid and air, acts in the engine compartment (34) of the vehicle and its coolant is selected from the engine coolant and a coolant connected to the cold source of the heat pump. The flow of air from the external heat exchanger can be directed towards the passenger compartment, or the exterior of the vehicle.
