The stator includes windings for the three phase supply, and these are embedded in radial slots formed on the end of the stator cylinder, each passing out through one slot and returning through another three slots further around the circumference. The core of the stator (5) is formed with slots (6) and an inductor coil (10) comprising windings (11,12,13) for the three phases which are wound successively. The windings (11,12,13) comprise the ends of the coil projecting through the slots (6) extending along the end face of the iron core of the stator (5). The winding ends extend in a the direction of the circumference before penetrating another slot (6) situated three slots away from the first. The ends of the coils are formed in two layers which overlap in the radial direction of the core.
