PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brass material excellent in ductility, in particlar in forgeability at a temperature in which strain recovery and recrystallization occurs. SOLUTION: Shearing deformation is applied on a brass material to give large strain thereto, and the average crystal grain size is refined, by which the material excellent in ductility, suitably in forgeability at a temperature in which recovery or recrystallization occurs is produced.
