The trim panel (6) incorporates a cover (8) for an air bag (3) fixed to the door (1) and/or the panel, the cover being hinged on a supple element (16) made from perforated sheet material. The cover is attached to or forms part of a portion of the trim panel (6) defined by thin lines which allow it to open under the pressure of the inflating air bag. The supple element can be made from a metal or polymer.
