PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior material installation structure capable of installing an exterior material on a holed substrate material at any position through installation hardware. SOLUTION: In this installation structure for an exterior material 14, the substrate material is installed on the external wall surface of a building, and the hardware 13 for supporting the exterior material 14 is fixed thereto at specified intervals in vertical and horizontal directions. The substrate material comprises the substrate panels 8 having a number of holes 9 and covering the external wall surface of the building. The installation hardware 13 is formed larger than the holes 9 in the substrate material.
