The cutting machine consists of two cutting blades (1,2), slightly offset one with the other, fitted to blade holders (3,4) driven by an electric motor via gearing (5,6,7,8,9). The gearing gives a contrary rotary motion to the cutting blades which have a saw tooth form so that when they approach each other they traverse the linear axis of the band and the rotary action of each tooth cuts the material (BM). The cutting tool is placed at the exit of a paper folding machine. An Independent claim is also included for the method using the machine for producing protective packaging.
