PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer type fuel cell for preventing an occurrence of gas diffusion inhibition in a fuel cell using a catalyst with an electrolytic resin as a catalyst layer and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The solid polymer type fuel cell comprises a catalyst layer 11 disposed on each main surface with a solid polymer electrolyte membrane in between, a gas diffusion layer 3, and a separator having a reaction gas flow path. The catalyst layer 11 is configured to contain catalyst powder and an electrolyte, thus causing a change in electrolyte amount in the catalyst layer across the thickness of the electrolyte and along the surface thereof. Most preferably, the amount of electrolyte across the thickness of the catalyst layer 11 is smaller on the gas diffusion layer side 3 and larger on the solid polymer electrolyte membrane side, and the amount of electrolyte along the surface thereof is smaller on a reaction gas outlet side and larger on an reaction gas inlet side. |
