PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the conventional problem inability to greatly reduce the cost of optical connectors, i.e., the problem of high manufacturing cost due to a number of high-precision machining processes in the manufacturing method, in which ferrules as important parts of optical connectors have conventionally been produced through precision machining of ceramics materials. SOLUTION: With a core wire 1 stretched that has a diameter corresponding to that of an optical fiber to be put through, the circumference is formed with a column 2 of a long metallic material by electrocasting. From this material column, a metallic column 4 having a prescribed length and diameter is formed, and then, one end of each metallic column is chamfered by grinding stone or machining blade to form a tapered opening 6. In this case, grinding stone or the machining blade is provided with a tapered external shape corresponding to the tapered opening and is also provided at the tip end, with a small projection 11, having a diameter slightly smaller than that of the core wire. At chamfering, the small projection of the grinding stone or the machining blade pushes and moves the core wire, thereby protruding it from the other end of the metallic column. By catching the protruded part of the core wire and pulling it out, a through-hole is formed to manufacture a ferrule.
