PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod lens array which dispenses with centering control in the thickness direction, without increasing the production cost or reducing the quantity of light. SOLUTION: The rod lens array has a number of rod lenses 21, arranged in such a way that images formed by adjacent lenses overlap each other, a resin part 22 integrated with the lenses 21 and frame plates 25, 26 fixed on both side faces 23, 24 of the resin part 22. Both ends 27, 27 of the frame plate 25 in the lens arrangement direction are projected from both side faces 29, 30 of the resin part 22. The inner faces 31 of the ends 27, 27 are used as a reference plane in the thickness direction of the array. When the inner faces 31 are brought into contact with the fixing reference plane of a device such as a printer, the optical axis of the optical element of the device and the center of the rod lens array 20 in the thickness direction of the array can be made to coincide with each other without carrying out centering control.
