PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily execute discrimination in a short time without requiring a skill, and to generate no problem on safety management, concerning discrimination of the tin-stuck surface of float glass. SOLUTION: The surface of discrimination object glass 11 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays from a light source 2, and light form the surface is received by a discrimination object light receiver 31. The surface of reference glass 12 which is already known out to be the tin-stuck surface is irradiated with the ultraviolet rays from the same light source 2, and light from the surface is received by a reference light receiver 32. A judging means 4 compares the signals obtained by both light receivers 31 and 32 each other and judges whether the surface of the discrimination object glass 11 irradiated with the ultraviolet rays is the tin-stuck surface or not, and the result is displayed by a display part 5.
