PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition excellent in foaming ability, detergency and foam quality while having low irritativeness to the human skin. SOLUTION: This detergent composition contains alkylethoxysulfuric acid salts represented by the formula: C12H25O(CH2CH2O)nSO3Na (wherein, (n) is the average number of ethylene oxide molecules added and 1 to 5) and stearlydimethylamine oxide. The alkylethoxysulfuric acid salts comprise a mixture containing two or more molecular species different in the number of ethylene oxide molecules added, wherein the number nA of ethylene oxide molecules added of the molecular species present in the largest amount is an integer of 1 or greater and of which the molecular species having the number of ethylene oxide molecules added in the range from (nA-1) to (nA+1) account for 55-75 wt.%.
