PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent uneven application caused by a paste squeezed out from the end of adhesive tapes used at joints. SOLUTION: An adhesive tape 26 is used for joining a joint 28 of a web 14 onto which a coating liquid is applied. In order to reduce the squeeze-out of paste from the end of the adhesive tape 26 when running the web 14 on a carrier, the side 46 of the adhesive tape 26 is cut to make the angle between the surface 44 of the adhesive tape 26 without a paste layer 38 and the side 46 of the adhesive tape 26 parallel to the width direction of the web 14 to be within the range of from 45 deg. to 75 deg.. This structure prevents the paste of the adhesive tape 26 from sticking to a carrier roller 30, etc., of a carrier and subsequently being transferred onto a downstream web 14. Consequently, the coating liquid can be uniformly applied onto the web 14 having an adhesive tape 26 at the joint 28.
