PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium in which the reduction of output and the like due to an increase in spacing loss is hardly generated even if the thickness of a coating layer of a hiding layer and the like is increased and write-in and read-out of information are possible. SOLUTION: A magnetic recording layer 3 having 580-720 oersted coercive force and a squareness ratio of 0.85 or more and formed by using Ba-ferrite having a planar ratio of 1.5 or more as a magnetic material is laminated on a substrate 2 and favorably the coating layer consisting of the hiding layer 7a, a multicolor pattern layers 71-73 and a protective layer 14 and having 8-25 μm entire thickness is laminated on the magnetic recording layer 3 to obtain the magnetic recording medium.
