PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily solve the problems of the lowering of an incident light quantity in the short distance measuring of an electronic distance meter, the graduation of range-finding accuracy in accordance with it and the increase of a minimum feasible measuring distance without grading range-finding performance at a maximum measuring distance. SOLUTION: This electronic distance meter is provided with the changing means of an emitted luminous flux size on the front side of the light-emitting element of a light-transmitting system and a controlling means to switch the emitted luminous flux size so as to be large or small by an emitted luminous flux size changing means in accordance with whether a distance to the measuring object of a light wave range finder is short or long.
