PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound active to assist the action of silica in a reinforcing agent for a diene elastomer without sing conventional coupling agent generating alcohols as by-products. SOLUTION: The silica-reinforced rubber composition contains at least one kind of elastomer, silica and at least one kind of an organometallic additive selected from organotin, organotitanium and organozirconium compounds preferably excluding a supplementary additive for a rubber composition easily reacting with hydroxyl group on the surface of the silica to form an alcohol such as alkylsilane, alkoxysilane and bis-(3-alkoxysilylalkyl)polysulfide compound. The organometallic compound can be selected e.g. from dibutyltin dilaurate, tin (II) 2-ethylhexanoate, dibutoxytitanium bis-2,4-pentanedionate and dibutoxyzirconium bis-2,4-pentanedionate.
