PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide machine parts, cutting tools, and dies which are coated with amorphous carbon film having sufficient adhesion and are used under extremely high bearing pressure. SOLUTION: The amorphous carbon coated member has a structure where an intermediate layer 2 composed of at least one element selected from the group IVa, Va, VIa, IIIb, and IVb elements (excluding C) of the periodic table or the carbide of at least one element selected from the above elements is formed on a base material 1 and an amorphous carbon film 3 is formed on the intermediate layer 2. Moreover, the thickness of the intermediate layer 2 is regulated to 0.5-10 nm. |
