PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fabric texture retrieving method and system capable of intentionally sorting fabrics under the aid of a computer without losing a human factor and quickly retrieving the fabric and a computer readable recording medium recording a fabric texture retrieving program. SOLUTION: A fabric texture pattern in a prescribed range is converted into a binarized two-dimensional(2D) array, pattern matching between a data texture pattern and a master texture pattern is executed on the basis of array information consisting of the sum of respective rows and respective columns of the 2D array and then the pattern matching is performed the basis of the array information of the fabric texture pattern of the prescribed range.
