PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain accurate front information without being affected by the driving state of a vehicle nor changes in vehicle posture resulting from an increase or decrease of passengers or loads, etc. SOLUTION: A front vehicle height value (displacement quantity of vehicle height on front-wheel side) and a rear vehicle height value (displacement quantity of vehicle height on rear-wheel side) are inputted from vehicle height sensors 11F and 11R fitted to the vehicle to an ECU(electronic control unit) 20. A pitch angle which is a tilt angle to a reference surface in the front-rear direction of the vehicle is calculated from the front vehicle height value and rear vehicle height value. The irradiation angle of a laser radar mechanism 30 to the horizontal surface of the vehicle is calculated from the pitch angle and an actuator 35 is driven to properly adjust the detection range of the laser radar mechanism 30.
