PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner which is capable of capturing image data without exchanging negative carriers for films of plural kinds of sizes. SOLUTION: This negative carrier has a film size sensor 88 which is disposed near a film insertion port 72, a transporting path which can change the transporting width while maintaining a center position constant a mask which has openings corresponding to the films of the various planned sizes and a control section which changes the width of the transporting path and selects the openings of the mask according to the film sizes detected by the film size sensor. The film scanner having such negative carrier is capable of versatilely capturing data without being accompanied by the exchange of the negative carrier for plural kinds of film sizes.
