摘要 Determining the viscosity of a liquid includes using a vibrator to vibrate a detector in the liquid. The method includes determining the impedance of the liquid from the frequency and amplitude of its vibration. The real and imaginary components of the dynamic viscosity of the liquid are determined from the impedance. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the visco-elasticity of a liquid is also determined substantially as above; the real and imaginary components of its dynamic viscosity and dynamic elasticity are determined from the impedance; (2) a method as in (1), where the static viscosity is also determined from the impedance; and (3) an apparatus for measuring the visco-elasticity of a liquid as in (2) includes a vibration detector, circuits for detecting the frequency and amplitude of the vibration, a circuit for calculating the impedance and a circuit for calculating the dynamic and static viscosity and the dynamic elasticity.
