PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of soiling of a transfer material accompanying attachment of toner by preventing the toner on an electrostatic carrying belt from being attached to a suction roll. SOLUTION: In the device, suction bias of a negative polarity that is the same polarity as the toner and that has an absolute value that is not more than a voltage at the time of starting of discharge is applied to the suction roll 19 when executing a direct transfer mode such as an image density control or resist control, a jam recovery and an electrostatic carrying belt cleaning mode. |
