PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket in which there is no fear of receiving an electric shock even if a plug blade is touched by a fingertip by a mistake during the insertion and detachment into a receptacle. SOLUTION: A cover body 16 covers the plug blade 13 protruded from a main body 12 of the socket 11. The cover body 16 is consisted of an insulating elastic elastomer, like a plastic sheet or the like. When the plug blade 13 is inserted into the receptacle 20, the cover body 16 is pushed to an outside surface to be housed in a space part 15 of the main body 12 by shrinking. Being covered by the cover body 16, the plug blade 13 does not make the electric shock in case the fingertip touches it by the mistake during the insertion and detachment into the receptacle 20. Further, dusts or the like adhered to the surface of main body 12 by the suction of the moisture in the air do not cause the short-circuit.
