PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block member for a Roberval mechanism or a strain generator capable of attaining deformation close to an ideal one. SOLUTION: Recesses 3a, 3b are formed to position their opening ends in a space part 2 with respect to an upper side edge 2b of the space part 2 of a block body. Recesses 3c, 3d are formed in a lower side edge 1b of the block member body 1 to position their opening ends in a block member body outside, all the respective recesses 3a-3d are directed thereby toward the same direction, and the deformation of the block body 1 as a whole is made close to the ideal one by thin-walled parts 4a-4d of the same shape with respect to a weight loading direction, when a weight W is loaded.
