PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soundproof device, which has a sufficient soundproof effect extending over a wide frequency range from a low frequency sound to a high sound in small size and does not function as a noise source. SOLUTION: The soundproof device 12 is composed of an inverted triangular hollow pipe 34 having a flat ceiling 30 and an approximately V-shaped side wall 32, and fixed at the upper edge of a sound insulating wall 10. The inside of the pipe 34 is partitioned into a plurality of small pipe sections 42 by vertical walls 38 and a floor 40. These small pipe sections 42 are partitioned into a plurality of small chambers by parting boards arranged at regular intervals along the longitudinal direction. Each small chamber has openings 48 communicated with the outside in the ceiling 30, and is formed in resonance chambers having resonance frequency determined by opening areas, length (d) under opening necks, their volume or the like.
