The fuel injected at the pre-mixing injection timing is injected to the specific swirl stream in the combustion chamber 1 or the intake air at the specific intake port 3 or in the intake passage including the intake port 3. At the start of combustion, the intake air having high fuel concentration is arranged at a central section 13 including the center section of a ceiling surface, and the intake air having low fuel concentration is arranged near the squish area of the peripheral section and the inner wall face of the cavity 9 in the combustion chamber 1, respectively.
