PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium in which the maintenance of low surface electric resistance and high light shielding properties of a magnetic layer and the enhancement of its electrornagnetic transducing characteristics are made compatible with each other, excellent running properties can be obtained, jitter of a reproducing signal is reduced and manufacturing cost can be reduced because of its simple coating stage. SOLUTION: The coating type magnetic recording medium having the magnetic layer formed by applying a magnetic paint formed by mixing and dispersing a magnetic powder, resin and additives on a substrate comprises the magnetic powder formed by adhering granular carbon black to the surface of a magnetite powder and having 3-15 wt.% adhered quantity of the granular carbon black to the magnetite powder, 25-45 m2/g BET specific surface area and 8-25 mg/g myristic acid adsorption volume. |
