PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal that automatically shifts to a specific operation such as key lock invalidating a key input even if a user is not conscious of the shift so as to avoid malfunction thereby avoiding wasteful power consumption. SOLUTION: The portable terminal having a key lock means that invalidates entry of an operation key at a prescribed time, is provided with a means that automatically shifts the terminal to a specific operation through the detection of an entry even when no succeeding key entry is made in a prescribed time after the end of the key entry, a specific operation setting means by which a user sets setting of a specific operation, a timer setting means by which the user sets a prescribed elapsed time until shift to the specific operation, and a timer count-down means that counts down the set prescribed elapsed time.
