PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a chip inductor, the substrate of which can be divided accurately into pieces along breaking grooves, with a good L and Q, and a method of manufacturing the inductor. SOLUTION: The chip inductor has electrode layers 2 and 4, their insulating layers 3 and 5, and the uppermost insulating layer 6 on a ceramic substrate 1. The insulating layer 6 contains an inorganic pigment of a Co oxide, Al oxide, etc., by 2-20 wt.%. On the insulating layer 6, the breaking grooves 7 are formed in a grid by laser beam irradiation and the substrate 1 is divided into pieces along the grooves 7. |
