PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter/receiver and a transmitting and receiving method, which prevent malfunctions due to distortion of transmission waveform and can also optimize transmission signal waveform, without having to use a dedicated line between transmitting and receiving parts with a transmission path between them. SOLUTION: An output voltage variable buffer 1 transmits a signal to a decision voltage variable buffer 5 via a variable impedance device 2, a signal transmission path 3 and a variable impedance device 4. A variable part controller 7 controls the characteristics of the buffer 1, the devices 2 and 4 and the buffer 5, on the basis of waveform information of the received signal of the buffer 5 detected by a waveform detector 6.
