PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a working efficiency and the accuracy of bending by mechanizing a series of bending operations for a tatami facing of an borderless tatami mat. SOLUTION: This tatami facing bending machine comprises the steps of placing a minor side-sewn tatami mat on a table 6 with the tatami facing thereof facing downward, lowering a bend positioning means 2 to simultaneously determine all or most bending positions on the major sides of the tatami mat, lowering a tatami mat retaining means 3 to fix the tatami mat, and lowering the tatami mat retainer, a positioning plate, and the table by a same distance. Thus, the bending part of the tatami facing extruded from the bed of the tatami mat placed on the table is pushed up from the underside by a fixed folding plate 7 of a length generally equal, in length, to the table installed parallel with the side edge of the tatami mat for bending.
