PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture processor having an inexpensive damper mechanism which facilitates operation of a cover member, which can be opened and closed to a processor main body, and stabilizes torque for opening/closing and has a high durability and is free from abnormal sounds. SOLUTION: A facsimile equipment provided with a recording part which records a picture on a sheet material such as recording paper being a recording object and a read part which reads the picture on the sheet material such as a document being a read object is equipped with an operation panel part 7 openable/closable with respect to the processor main body, an arm 56 having a rack gear 74 arranged in the operation panel part 7, a damper gear 71 which is arranged in the processor main body and is engaged with the rack gear 74, a carrying means which carries the sheet material, and a drive motor which drives the carrying means. In the equipment, the damper gear 71 is connected to the drive motor 50, and engagement between the rack gear 74 and the damper gear 71 is released when the operation panel part 7 is closed.
