In a rudder with a propeller unit mounted therein and rotatable therewith, the propeller unit, which lies in a nozzle-like duct 7 running through from the forward to the after edge of the rudder 1 and coaxial with, the propeller 6 of the ship's main engine, is connected via mitre gears in the duct, through the rudder axle 2, with a drive unit (an electric motor 3) disposed in the ship's hull coaxially with the rudder axle. The propeller unit may consist of a single propeller 5 or a double propeller or two separate propellers, slits being provided in the sides of the nozzle in the region of the rear propeller. |
