Pharmaceutical preparation or foodstuff for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, or 'pouchitis' in ulcerative colitis patients having undergone colectomy and insertion of an ileo-anal bag, contains a 4-aminoacyloxyalkyl-2-oxetanone derivative (I).
