A portable golf club support (10) for supporting at least one golf club (C) in an upright position, comprising an elongate leg (20) including an upper end (22) and a lower end (24), wherein said lower end (24) is adapted to permit penetration of the lower end into the ground (G), and a closed ring (28) adapted to support at least one golf club shaft in an upright position after the shaft is placed therethrough. The ring (28) is pivotally connected to the elongate leg (20) by a hinge (30) and movable between a closed position wherein the ring (28) lies along the length of the leg (20), to an open position wherein the ring (28) extends generally outwardly from the leg (20), thereby permitting the ring (28) to receive and support at least one golf club shaft therethrough.
