<p>A syringe (10) includes a barrel (12) having a cannula (14) at one end and a plunger (16) at its opposite end whereby fluid may be drawn into or expressed from the barrel by translatory movement of the plunger (16) relative to the barrel (12). A white ink receptor coating (30) is provided on the barrel (12) at manufacture and on which coating (30) writing may be applied by the medical practitioner using a common ordinary writing implement such as a ballpoint pen. By locating the ink receptor coating (30) diametrically opposite the index markings (26) on the syringe barrel (12) and providing the coating (30) in a white color, the index markings (26) may be readily read against the contrasting white background to ascertain the quantity of fluid within the syringe barrel (12).</p> |
