Protection solution, (A), for use in fixing methods for the paraffin-sectioning technique comprising at least one each of amino acid (I) and sugar (II) is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) composition (B) containing, in solid form, materials required to make a predetermined quantity of (A); (b) fixing kit comprising (B) and a solution (C) containing a solvent (III) suitable for fixing; and (c) fixing method for biological samples comprising incubating the sample with (A) and then in solution containing (III).
