The method involves entering current and destination positions into a WAP-compatible mobile telephone using street names and house numbers or street names for road crossings, transmitting the data over the mobile network to a WAP gateway, passing it to an Internet network database, from which data are assembled to describe the route to the destination, making the data available over the network and gateway and sending it to the mobile telephone.
