The synchronizing device has outer teeth (48) which can be moved axially by a sliding coupling (28) fixed to a shaft via the synchronizing body (24) to engage or disengage the power flow. The reverse gear locking surface (56) on the inner teeth (26) of the sliding coupling has a smaller axial expansion (58) than that (60) of the high gear locking surface (54).
