The method involves joining first and second plates (3,4) at the edges, inserting the resulting basic hollow body (2) into a shaping tool (6) and feeding high pressure liquid into the hollow volume for shaping. To reduce the flow resistance of the metal during high pressure shaping at least part of the shaping tool is heated and/or the high pressure liquid (8) itself is delivered in a heated state.
